Who we are

Chicago Repair Co (chicagorepairco.com) is a referral service, based in Illinois. We run this website and the phone line shown on it.

What we do, and what we do not do

When you call or send a request, we connect you with an independent appliance repair provider that serves your area. That provider is a separate business. It schedules the visit, diagnoses the appliance, quotes the price, performs the repair, and is solely responsible for its work, pricing, warranties and conduct.

Chicago Repair Co does not repair appliances, does not employ technicians, and does not hold any trade license or insurance for repair work. We do not perform, supervise or guarantee any repair.

How we are paid

Using this service is free for you. We are paid by the repair providers or the call-routing partners we work with, typically a fee for each qualified call that is connected to them. That arrangement does not change the price the provider quotes you, and you are never obliged to accept a quote.

What is and is not verified

We route calls to providers who have agreed to serve the listed areas. We do not independently inspect their work, and we cannot promise a particular technician, arrival time, price or outcome. Availability, including same-day visits and Spanish-language service, depends on the provider.

Illinois does not issue a state license for appliance repair; it is not among the professions regulated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Technicians who handle refrigerant need federal EPA Section 608 certification. Inside the City of Chicago, businesses doing repair work in homes may need a City Home Repair license; the City’s business licensing office can confirm for a specific job.

Before work starts, it is reasonable to ask the technician for the business name, proof of liability insurance, the diagnostic fee, and the warranty they give on parts and labor. You can look the business up with the Better Business Bureau and read its public reviews. For a gas appliance, ask whether the connection work will be done by someone qualified for gas.
